Reasons to visit Italy

Italy was the heart of the ancient Roman Empire and later was the cornerstone of the Renaissance. Little surprise then that it is a cultural delight, whether you choose to visit Rome, Florence, Venice or any one of a hundred other places.

The culture of food and drink is a further attraction in Italy. It may lack the haute cuisine image of France but we all eat pizza and pasta, and drink coffee and wine. The very best of all those things are to be found in Italy.

The long narrow peninsula of mainland Italy and the two big islands of Sardinia and Sicily give the country an immense coastline, so it is little surprise to find thousands of quaint fishing villages, hundreds of harbours and marinas and cliffs and beaches to boggle the imagination. All combined with the warm Mediterranean climate.

For visitors seeking scenery in a cooler ambience, Tuscany and the Italian Lakes come highly recommended.
