Morisco is the name given to Moors who remained in Spain after the Christian reconquest, and Casa Morisca has remained upon this very spot ever since that time too. It was recently restored and converted to a hotel, ideally situated in the old Moorish quarter (known as the Albaicin or Albayzin) at the foot of the Alhambra.
The late 15th century structure encloses a magical patio with an original moorish-style pool and surrounding galleries and columns. This is almost an Alhambra in miniature, with stucco arches, ancient tiles and characteristic patterns in the woodwork of the ceilings. The patio is the ideal place for a refreshing drink at the end of the day, relaxing and listening to the quiet trickle of water in the pool. The breakfast room of Casa Morisca has an impressive barrel-vaulted ceiling of original brick and stonework.
Each of the 14 guestrooms is individually decorated and combines all the charm of this very original old building with the comforts of 21st century life, including air conditioning and internet access. Every room has a special aspect, either facing inward to the patio or outward with views of the Alhambra, the Generalife and the maze of narrow medieval streets that surround the hotel. There is one suite with a large double bed and its own sitting area beneath a 15th century wooden ceiling. The bathroom has a jacuzzi-bath and a multi-function shower. There is also the possibility of adding an extra double bed. The Mirador room at the top of the house has spectacular views towards the Alhambra from both bedroom and bathroom.
Casa Morisca occupies a privileged position in old Granada: a Unesco heritage site, quiet and peaceful, yet with easy access to bars and restaurants, the Alhambra, the Albayzín and the river Darro.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
Our stay at Hotel Casa Morisca in Granada was delightful, with the room ( #15) in an outstanding position with views of the Alhambra, every thing that was promised. The directions given by the Hotel for arrival were precise as it could be a difficult location to find. The Manager Wilfredo was welcoming and came to the end of the street to guide us to the car parking. The room was very clean and the breakfast good. We did a tour of the Alhambra, which the Hotel booked in advance and Wilfredo's instructions to greet the tour were again precise. After the tour we returned to the Hotel and were given directions to exit the old quarter which were in print in this case being better than a map because of the multiple turns and narrow lane ways/ streets.
All in all, a very pleasant stay and will be highly recommended to our friends. |
| We had great time, the hotel Casa Morisca and managment were great!!!. Thank you all!

| There were four in our party. We stayed at the Casa Morisca and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. Charming building, beautifully restored and offering excellent accommodation in a perfect location. The staff were all very helpful. Two small complaints, the water pressure was not brilliant in one of the rooms and it would have been nice to have the air conditioning on for the interior room which was a little warm. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Granada.

| Beautiful hotel in a fabulous setting. The staff were very helpful and very friendly. We had an excellent stay. |
| The hotel was every bit as good as we had expected, we even managed to drive there without difficulty!! Wilfredo on the front desk is outstanding! I am sure we will be back. |
We thought Casa Morisca was an excellent hotel. Our room was comfortable, and the hotel a beautifully restored building in a convenient but quiet location. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced (but we would have preferred the meat and cheese to be kept cool and protected). The hotel's service was always friendly and helpful - for example, the taxi arranged by the hotel was ready and waiting on our arrival at Granada Airport.
Your description did Casa Morisca justice, though on a minor quibble we found the reference to 'bar service' ambiguous - there was no bar as such, and we weren't aware of an option to order drinks.
Casa Morisca more than deserves the many plaudits it receives. |
Just to say how much we enjoyed our trip to Spain and how delightful the hotel Casa Morisca was. Everyone was very friendly and the hotel was as nice as it looked on your website.
Thank you for all your help with the holiday. We shall be looking at your website again in the future! |

We Say
Visiting the Alhambra should be on everyone's "50 Things To Do Before I Die" list. We can't think of a better way to make a visit than to stay at Casa Morisca, where the whole hotel is authentic Moorish with ancient timbers, original floor tiles and even a well, tucked away in the corner of the patio. When you lie in bed and look up at that ceiling, it's not a replica: it's the real thing.
